"Does my head look big in this?"

"Does my head look big in this" is a novel based on a teenage girl making the decision to wear the hijab.  Throughout the book she faces constant problems with what others think about her.  She experiences teasing, verbal abuse, and even some physical abuse.  But isnt that what happens when your a muslim girl, going to a cathlolic school?  your just supposed to be discriminated against, because your expected not to bring your beliefs to school?
Even though Amal goes through so much that would usually drive you mad, she stays strong and never second- guesses herself.  Not only the aspect and plot of the story was great, but the characters were described in a way that you could make an image in your mind.  They went through life problems that everyone constantly faces, and the plus side of that is it's easy to relate to, and feel a strong connection with the character that felt the same difficulties you may have.  And it does not only have to be the difficulties you face, but the ups of your life as well.  you can feel the moment of happiness all over again and be able to say "i know how the character feels..."
Thats the reason i really liked this story, it wasnt like others where you couldnt feel the emotions the character was trying to portray in the characters, but in this book i definatley did.

Justice, and Injustice (Pretty Little Liars "Wanted")

     in my book justice is a big thing, because it really controls whether an  innocent man will go to jail or will be let go given another chance.  but that just cant happen in rosewood, because the adults are so sexist against who killed ali, so they are constantly accusing the wrong male figures, and in fact a male didnt even commit the crime.  giving the accused an injustice sentence and the girl who commited the murder an evil mastermind that hasnt even be questioned.  it is because of these injustices that the book is the way it is, with an innocent man with his death bed ready, and the true murderer slinking behind the closed doors, ready to strike again.
     the thing is that there are many injustices in the world, and there is little to nothing we can do about it.  fighting for it seems to make the issue seem bigger but really it makes no difference.  and just leaves the community fighting for something they have no say about.  it is a social issue that needs a solution, and needs to be taken care of.  because the longer that this goes, the more innocent will be sent ofr trials and be accused of things they have not done.
     the world is filled with injustice, which is portrayed by the media.  the media constantly shows a certain race that dominates commiting crimes.  causing the world to be stereotypical to others.  and just like in my book, someone has to stop this injustice and turn things back to the way the justice system should really work.  only putting the true guilty people into jail or into suffering and the innocents fairness.  that all sounds so easy, but is it really?

Pretty Little Liars "Heartless"

What really hard things are happening in your books text?

     My book is full of many hard things that the character's are facing.  All different but all are somehow connected.  The main problem that all the characters face is betrayel; by either their friends or family.
     Spencer thought that her life could not get any better, and it didn't.  all it did was get worse.  after years of being criminally harassed by an annonymous person (so called A) she has been torn.  but everytime her life starts to turn in the right direction, the worst is right around the corner.  and there is always some sort of twist and turn, that the can turn the happiest moments into the saddest ones.
     after years of being harrsed you start to second guess yourself and what others say, you start to go with what A is telling you, when you know it's not true.  and when A knows something you dont he/she will do everthing he/she can to get you going crazy.  especially when it comes down to your family and friends.
     After listening to A, spencer decided to figure out if A was telling the truth by doing some snooping of her own.  and believe me once you start you cant stop.  when she saw what she was looking for, and she was shocked to see something that would haunt her forever.
     Now she is stuck knowing that her father has been living a lie.  and that she and ali were closer than they thought.  she is stuck knowing that her father was cheating on her mom and the family trust system.  and she is put in a position where she can either do the right thing or the wrong one.  but as a 17 year old teenager, do you really know right from wrong.  and do you know how deep you've got yourself until you cant get out?

The making of Stuart Little

     Before E.B White moved to his farm in Maine he had lived in New York, and loved it there.  Once he moved to Maine, he began to have a love of animals.  He decided to write a book that took place in New York and was about an animal, but which one, there were so many to choose from.  One day while sleeping on a railroad car, he dreamt about a little boy that acted more like a mouse than he did like a boy.  And that was where he got his inspiration to write Stuart Little from.
     E.B White tended to keep the same themes in almost all of his childrens books, and liked to add adult humor and things that were depper than they seemed.  He wanted children to see that life was not always happy and bright, and that things that live will always die, no matter what.  Those were things that younger children didn't understand, but older children and adults would understand.  White had a way of writing sad depressing things but since he wrote it about animals it was easier for him to mellow it all out (balance it out).  
     The themes that White loved to include were those about bravery, tolerance, rural living, and especially loyalty.  Those were all themes that can be found in almost all of his children books, and maybe even some in his adult poems and essays.  Those themes may be the things that he found most important in life, and he probably wanted to portray that to others.

"Templeton, a hero?"

     I think that everyone believes that Charlotte and Wilbur are the hero's but i disagree.  All Charlotte did was mentor Wilbur into becoming a better person, and write things on her web.  And all Wibur did was whine and complain, and towards the end of the book grow into the pig Charlotte taught him to be.  But really i believe that Templeton is the hero.  Templeton is a shape shifter in a way, but more of a hero in another way.  He has a bad reputation which makews him seem like the bad guy, like the shadow.  But towards the end of the book you realize that he has a kind heart and does the right things without being asked.  Although he sometimes can be self-centered, not all hero's have to be perfect.  Without Templeton in the story, it would be shoter and sadder.  Without Templeton and his rotten egg, Charlotte would have been long dead, and so would Wilbur.  Because with Charlotte gone Wilbur's life would be soon gone for, Charlotte cannot write words on her web while she is dead, plus she wouldn't have been able to lay her eggs.  If Templeton didn't bite Wilbur's tail, then Wilbur would have been an embarassment, not living up to his words.  Or if Templeton didn't bring back magazine clippings for Charlotte, or if he hadn't helped Wilbur fetch Charlottes web.  Although  Templeton plays bad, he has a really kind heart, and i think that the only one who didn't judge him by his cover was Charlotte.  She seemed to be the only one who knew that he had good potential as well as a good heart.

"Some Pig"

   Ever since Charlotte has been writing things on her web, Wilbur's life has changed drastically.  From on the verge of death to the pig that everyone wants to see.  As charlotte wrote more words on her web, the prouder Mr. Zuckerman became, and the more people came to see Wilbur and the new word on the web.  And when you become proud of something you want to show it off to everyone, and show how well you treat it and how nice it looks.  And that is exacly what Mr. Zuckerman decided to do.  He gave Wilbur more food, and replaced the horse manure in his pen with clean hay.  But wouldnt you do that if you thought god was giving you a sign?  Maybe or maybe not?  It may be to your liking but would it be to Wilbur's?
   While Mr. Zuckerman replaces Wilbur's habitat he doesn't realize that Wilbur is not fond of it.  And he doesn't realize that he would be putting Charlottes life at risk, but who would?  Because Mr. Zuckerman removed most of the cow manure Charlotte may be losing her food source.  Earlier in the book she stated that she needed the smell of manre to attract her food (bugs and insects).  But with the smell mellowing down her food will get less and less and she might starve.  But luckily that has not happened yet, for Mr. Zuckerman left a good amount of manure in Wilbur's pen.
   Like almost all adults in this book, they are blind to see that Wilbur is not the miracle, Charlotte is.  All Wilbur tends to do is reflect the words that Charlotte has written.  And he is the one that gets praised and fame, not Charlotte.  That just goes to show you what type of heart that Charlotte has.  She gave and sacrificed her time for Wilbur, and would sacrifice her life as well.  She has devoted so much work and time to his cause and has gotten nothing in return.  And Wilbur has yet to realize what a great friend he has, and how much he is going to miss her when she is gone.

"You don't know what you've got till it's gone..."

  Freedom is a big word. It is something that people have fought for, and died for, it is something that people have risked everything for just to make a difference. Freedom is something that everyone wants, and everyone will do whatever it takes to get it. But when you get it is it too much to handle, do you even know what to do with it? The world can be big, especially if you're a little pig, so vunerable, so small, and so confused with what he really wants, and what he really wants most.
  Wilbur is constantly complaining about his pen, how it's too small, he needs more space, and that he wants to roam around like before with fern. So when oppurtunity came knocking at the door he took it. Pushing a loose board Wilbur stepped into his new world of freedom. Wilbur was free at last, and it was just what he wanted, or was it?
  Wilburs short moment of freedom only lasted a couple minutes, but it was full of excitement for everyone, but maybe not Wilbur. The world was so big for Wilbur that he didn't know what to do. So after a second of just standing there everyone knew of Wilbur's disapearence. After minutes of running and chasing Wilbur finally gave up for the old bucket trick.  But he didnt really care that he was back in his pen, he was just happy that he was back. because there is no place like home, and you really dont know what you've got till it's gone.
